In the easternmost part of the province of Málaga, bordering the province of Granada, we find the coastal town of Nerja, one of the best-known villages in Spain. Its average annual temperature, close to 68°F (20°C) degrees, the beautiful mountain scenery of La Axarquía malagueña, as well as a rugged coastline with alternating beaches and cliffs, are some of its attractions.
It has a long history, proven by the cave paintings found in the Nerja Cave, discovered in 1959. That discovery is symbolic of the beginning of a new era, with which came the great tourist development that brought progress and prosperity and changed the physiognomy of Nerja’s social life.
